I have had quite a few people asked me how to force their WordPress website into using HTTPS instead of HTTP links. In this post I am going to show you the steps that I use in order to achieve that.
First make sure you can reach your WordPress website by changing the protocol to https:// instead of http when accessing your site(I cannot stress this enough if you get a page not found error do not follow the steps outlined further).
Next we’re going to need to do is to install a plugin. Access your WordPress dashboard go to plugins. Click on Add new and search for WP Force SSL, install but DO NOT ACTIVATE YET.
Next go to WordPress Dashboard, then go to Settings , General. Here we are going to change the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) to https:// instead of http://.
Head back to Plugins and Activate the WP Force SSL Plugin.
Now, anytime someone hits your WordPress website it should only show HTTPS secure pages.
